Living in the land of opportunity or the land of penguins

This short movie from Simple Truths has richness in it.
I enjoyed the illustrations immensely. They captured the nuances of emotions and made me laugh.
This is really apropos for today’s times.

Hand feeding hummingbirds (and finances)

Just when it seems like a bit of good news would be exceedingly welcomed, comes this true story (I’ve checked it with Snopes) about a woman hand feeding hummingbirds.
Isn’t it great that with the Internet we have a way to easily share these experiences that we might never hear about otherwise?!
Thanks to Cathy for sharing [...]

Partnering in life, thinking outside the box

Imagine the possibilities!
Here’s a 3 minute short movie on flying outside the box.
When we think we’ve run out of opportunities, we need to shake that box and see what else we can shake out!

On being a caterpillar

I saw this mentioned at another list this morning and thought others might enjoy it too. (It mentions God in the message and Jesus is mentioned in the website title.)
It deals creatively with the concept of fear (and even flying). I’m reading a fiction book now where the woman has a phobia of [...]

The Archimedes Codex unpeeled

This is fascinating stuff! It’s amazing to me that the book survived, much less is readable (after 9 years!)

This is about an ancient book called The Archimedes Codex, bought for $2.2 million in October, 1998, at an auction in New York City by an anonymous collector who sent it to the Walters Art Museum, [...]

A role model

This article about Vivian Cherry, an almost 90 year old NY street photographer, is quite fascinating.
Be sure to click the accompanying interview with her. It shows pictures of her earlier life when she was dancing and many stills from her newly published book, Helluva Town: New York City in the 1940s [...]

Vanishing nail polish

This article was posted at another list I’m on, but it is worth passing along for the folks not on that list.
I think it is a really great idea! A polish that turns color in the sun, but is nearly colorless inside, for those who are not allowed to wear polish at school or [...]

There is another way of looking at this

This is a good reminder for me. When I’m having a hard day, it is sometimes difficult to rise above it, but I never give in.
How about you, what do you do when a day is rough?

A woman to admire

I only recently heard of Irena Sendler, a Polish Catholic 97 year old woman who rescued 2500 children in the Warsaw Ghetto from the gas chambers in 1942-3.
After getting the children out, she arranged ‘adoptions’ by non-Jewish families (I admire them too for the risks they took) to protect them, documenting their names in a [...]

The strangest secret (short inspirational movie)

Here’s an excerpt from The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale. He speaks some of the audio. I thought it was very interesting. I always liked him, but I don’t remember this one at all. It puts a whole new insight into what we sow.

You can’t send a duck to eagle school

Here’s another short inspirational movie from Mac Anderson, Founder, Simple Truths. I loved this one, including the Chinese poem at the end.
Live with Passion!
Quack, quack.
Or fly, if you’re an eagle.
It reminds me of the Ugly Duckling story in some respects. Be the best of who you are. [...]

One way to overcome negativity

Here’s another way to deal with negativity. Likely it works. She is a motivational speaker.
If I don’t know what to do or don’t have a clear sense of my path, I wait. (That’s not to say I sometimes don’t wait and act precipitously.)
How about you?
