Max Factor, a makeup artist for the Russian Royal ballet, founded Max Factor & Company in 1909. They are currently owned by Procter & Gamble, who bought the company in 1991. Max factor worked in movies during the golden years of Hollywood, the 20s and 30s. He created lip gloss for movies in 1914, and even coined the term makeup.
